6/3/23 post: Here's a laugh for the day. Dr Richard C.
6/3/23 post: We were amazed to see a meteorological phenomenon in the eastern sky from our living room on June 1, 2023 at about 8:20 PM. Since our unit sees the sunrise and not the sunset we were surprised to see yellow, orange and pink colors in the area we normally see the sunrise in the morning. I grabbed my phone and took a picture, curious to see what sort of sunset would produce this beauty. Judy H. across the hall invited me into her unit to take a picture, but the sunset was finished and not particularly dramatic. Neither of us had seen this type of glow before.
After some research, I learned it was called alpenglow. A simple definition is that the glow is indirect sunlight which occurs just after sunset. The unusual pink glow is due to light being reflected from the suspended particles in the atmosphere (clouds).
Maybe this is your trivia to "learn something new" every day for today. Enjoy. Grace B.
