4/16/22 post: We are having problems with streaming Netflix and Amazon prime. The images are distorted and the movies load very slowly - scrolling and scrolling for at least a minute or so. Does anyone have the same experience or are we the only ones? Tammy S. 4/2/22 post: Thanks Jennifer! Glad to hear it will be questioned and brought up at the next coffee hour. More are involved than now use this service! Betsy B. 4/1/22 post: This is a response to Betsy's question below. Here's what I found out when I contacted Michael G when I learned of resident unhappiness with the discontinuation. He said about 10 people utilize the referenced grocery service, and that they'd been individually notified. I asked if a "compromise" or middle ground was considered, and he said he'd re-address the situation with his staff. I followed up with an email to him, asking for that re-consideration to look at a variety of aspects; as examples, maybe less frequency (say, twice a month); or helping residents order on line for themselves, with a common pick-up and delivery still done by staff for a fee. I asked about considering the loss of the Harris Teeter gasoline discount that TVAB should be getting by putting purchases on TVAB's account. I asked if TVAB would be okay with Harris Teeter delivery people (or those of any other grocery chosen by a resident that offers deliveries) coming into the building and walking the halls. Often management looks at whether something entails significant cost yet benefits just a few. This was one. I said that it was quite possible that those residents not using this "Max grocery service" now may not have a problem with it being provided to just a few for an appropriate fee to the user, since many might think, "that might be me some day." It might be viewed as a benefit of living at TVAB. I requested that he discuss this topic at the upcoming April 20 Coffee Hour, and he agreed to do so. I suggest that anyone feeling strongly about this decision to come to Coffee Hour to ask and learn directly from Michael. Bottom line for now: stay tuned. Jennifer Y. 4/1/22 post: Why hasn't it been announced that Max's grocery service has been discontinued? Betsy B. 3/9/22 post: Are reading glasses and frames still being collected? Tammy S. 2/8/22 post: There is a Brother sewing machine in the back of one of the cubbies in the Craft Room. Does anyone know who the owner is? Sue W. 2/19/22 post: The owner of the Brother sewing machine has been found. Sue W.
